who we are and what we do 

NeighborWorks Omaha (NWO) is a not-for-profit 501c3 corporation that provides economic and community development services that include affordable quality housing, business development, job creation and retention.

 

We are a small diverse staff committed to rebuilding and enhancing the quality of life in Greater Omaha with community development activities that benefit individuals from a wide spectrum of economic levels.

 

We strive to serve residents in the greater Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan areas, including Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties in Nebraska and Iowa with an emphasis on low to moderate income families, minorities, and women.

As developers, we provide services to potential home buyers of affordable and market rate housing. Our current development areas are in the Long School Neighborhood, 24th - 27th Street, Hamilton to Lake Streets; and in Miami Heights at 33rd and Lake Street area. In addition, we assist start up and existing small businesses with training, business counseling, micro loans, and networking opportunities. Learn more about our Services.

We accomplish our goals by: 

·        creating and maintaining partnerships with key organizations including the City of Omaha, Nebraska, the financial industry, and the private sector.

·        collaborating with a strong board of directors and committed community leaders.

·        private donations which have allowed us to build capacity and increase our visibility.

 

ECONOMIC IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY 

To date, $35 million dollars in single and multi-family housing in North and South Omaha, Nebraska and $400,000+ in small business loans.
