Director of Economic and Community Development
As
a native Omahan, Terrie Jackson Miller has extensive
experience as a leader in the area of economic and community development. With
24 years as a director for the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, she has
coordinated the development of economic, small business, and career
opportunities that enhance the quality of life for Omaha's ethnic minority
communities.
Ms. Jackson Miller has served on numerous boards throughout
the city representing organizations such as the YMCA, YWCA, Girl's Inc. Partner
Board, United Methodist Community Center, Family Service of the Midlands,
Junior Achievement, and many others.
Among her special appointments are the Mayor's Compensation
Committee, Douglas County Affirmative Action Committee, Omaha Public Schools
Desegregation Review Committee, and the Danforth Policymakers' Program Summer
Institute.
Ms. Jackson Miller has served as the Nebraska representative
for the African American Leadership Summit-The Public Forum Institute under the
leadership of U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and U.S. Senator Rick
Santorum of Pennsylvania. She also served as the 1993 White House Delegate for
the White House Conference on the North America Free Trade Agreement.
Ms. Jackson Miller is a current adjunct professor at the
University of Nebraska at Omaha and Metropolitan Community College. She holds
an undergraduate and graduate degree in business from the College of Saint
Mary.
